You Are Running An Older Version Among Us Pc. Next click on the game guide icon as shown below. Open the Select the beta you would like to opt into dropdown.

So apparently the problem was that the room host had the older version of the game and not the 2020831s.
If your version is less than v202099 youll need to download an update. Please update to play with others. Go to the Beta tab. If you need a rollback of Among Us check out the apps version history on Uptodown.
